Long Term Internship - Global Markets - China Trading Desk - Hong Kong
Position Purpose
The Global Markets China Interns are responsible for assisting the traders in their day-to-day activity through, but not limited to, proper deal capture flow, events and controls of FX, rates and other asset classes trades post execution. Interns are expected to show initiative, flexibility, accuracy, good communication and commitment working in the front office environment. The China trading activity forms the primary support role of this team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The direct responsibilities includes but not limited to:
Deal Capture
- Manual deal capture in front office system according to traders’ instruction and verifying deal entry against supporting documents as reference to procedure.
- Amend/cancel all trades in front office system for China trading desk.
Risk Management
- Evaluate all new deals to see whether there is any breach of credit line or MDDR limit via Risk Navigator and to obtain pre-approval before such trades are executed.
- Perform other limits control tasks such as monitoring the onshore cash flows limit, market risk limits or maximum loss limits.
Deal Event Management
- Ensure all trades in front office system are amended and booked with the correct rate and in a timely manner.
- Processing of Novation and Early Termination events in front office system upon traders’ instruction
End of Day and P/L
- Responsible to report end of day position and P/L for China Trading Team by reconciling the P/L among various system sources
- Describe and explain the sources of P/L for daily, monthly and yearly basis
Reconciliation
- Perform all internal and external system reconciliation checks as defined in the global or local procedure guidelines. Proper escalation if regular breaks are identified.
Coordinate with the other teams
- Provide brief commentaries upon traders’ instruction
- Point of contact by internal departments for queries related to China trading desks
- Serve as co-ordinator between front office and other departments like middle office and back office
Reporting & Controls
- Ensure segregation of duties by NOT quoting prices, taking orders from client, dealing individually and entering deals into non-permission systems.
- Ensuring appropriate escalation to management as soon as an issue or fraud is identified.
- Contribute to local regulatory reporting requests.
- Comply with applicable regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
Endeavor to ensure the quality of the Bank's portfolio remains sound and healthy
Contributing Responsibilities
- Attend relevant training courses to maintain appropriate regulatory, product and technical skills.
- Collaboration with different teams to improve the efficiency and risk control.
- Maintain open communication with team and direct management to fulfill firm notification requirements and pass on client concerns.
Permanent Control Aspects
For all staff other than managers:
- Direct contribution to BNPP operational permanent control framework.
- Contribute to the implementation of operational permanent control policies and procedures in day-to-day business activities, such as Control Plan
- Comply with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
- Contribute to the reporting of all incidents according to the Incident Management System
- Ensure audit recommendations are resolved within the specific timeline.
- Preparing a P&L explain each day and escalating any unexplained elements to their desk head for sign off
Technical and Behavioural Competencies
Students who are graduating from 2019 to 2021 from all areas of disciplines are most welcome to apply. The internship period would be at least 6 months, subject to further discussion. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
